Stud Row

How does your “best stud” end up the victim of an automobile accident? The Mosby Foundation pondered that very thought when Mikko was brought to our attention. Debbie Fahrenholtz, veterinary technician with Ocean State Veterinary Specialists in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, contacted us about this sweet little dog.

Mikko, a long-haired charcoal grey dachshund, was a prize stud for a puppy mill breeder. Somehow he ended up getting hit by a car and the breeder could not afford to treat his extensive injuries. Mikko needed his tail amputated, a diaphragmatic hernia repaired (unrelated to the accident, but possibly congenital) which had his intestines in his chest, and a chest tube for drainage while the hernia was being repaired.

Debbie, along with being a vet tech, is also a rescue mom and we gladly assisted her in Mikko’s plight. The little fighter did have the surgery and is doing quite well. Now he needs a real life and someone to welcome all the love he has to offer. That’s why The Mosby Foundation provides assistance to dogs in need. We offer the second chance for first time love. And thanks to your generous donations, you make it all possible!
